USBC News Wire. Sacramento, California- A California Democrat Party politician, Bob Wieckowski, is pushing a controversial bill which would allow non-citizens to judge American citizens by serving on juries in California.
The bill, which is likely to be struck down by courts as unconstitutional, has already passed the California assembly 45-25 supported by the Democrat Party and liberal Republicans. The bill will now move on to the California Senate.
Critics have questioned the rationale behind such a bill, and Representative Diane Harkey, a Republican, was quoted as saying that “Jury selection is not the problem. The problem is trial court funding.” From 2010, to 2011, approximately 165,000 of the 3.2 million Californians who showed up for jury duty were actually selected to serve as jurors.
California has the most pension debt of any State in the union, as well as the largest budget debt. Yet despite promises to rectify the multitude of problems, those problems continue to grow under Democrat leadership in California.
